Fashion houses - a brief overview

Which clothing brands are considered the most luxurious? Which fashion labels on clothing speak of status and prestige? Check out the list of famous clothing brands that are an integral part of the fashion industry and are the most popular.
Among the most popular are the following brands:

Balenciaga

Balenciaga is a high-end clothing brand that is gaining momentum. It was founded by the Spanish designer Cristobal Balenciaga in 1919. It is best known for its originality and revolution in women's fashion. The designs of this fashion house went against the prevailing fashion norms. In the 1960s, when women wore Dior dresses that emphasized the waistline, Balenciaga created a "baggy dress" with the exact opposite of a baggy cut. The prestigious clothing brand Balenciaga creates modern collections that are often considered extravagant. Not without reason, the brand is valued at $51.2 million.

Burberry

Burberry is an exclusive British brand of clothes, perfumes and many accessories, which are sold in boutiques almost all over the world.
The brand's history began in 1856, when 21-year-old draper Thomas Burberry opened his first clothing store in Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK.
His coats were so practical and resilient that even soldiers bought them! Presumably that's why Thomas Berberry adopted a knight's raven horse with a shield and a banner with the letter "B" as his company logo.
During World War I the company made coats for the army. They were also worn by movie stars, for example, in the famous "Casablanca". In 1955 Queen Elizabeth gave Burberry the official royal recommendation. Today it is one of the most famous brands in the world.

Dolce&Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana met in 1980, thanks to these two Italians, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, one of the most famous fashion brands in the world was created in 1985. What characterizes their designs is their extraordinary sex appeal and bold colors inspired by Sicily. Dolce & Gabbana is not only clothing, but also cosmetics, including perfumes.

Celine

Céline is a French luxury goods brand founded in 1945. That's when Céline and Richard Vipiana opened a children's shoe store. In the 1960s, however, they began their adventure with ready-to-wear collections. Exquisite tailoring was the foundation of their work from the beginning. Elegant dresses, skirts, shirts, sweaters and jackets carry the power of Parisian elegance and primness. Since 2018, Edy Slimane has been the creative director of the brand, and he began his legacy by changing the brand logo, in which the accent over the letter "E" has disappeared.

Fendi

Fendi is an Italian fashion house founded in 1918. Its founders are the couple Adele and Edoardo Fendi. The brand is now part of the French group Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy.
This brand, which is a symbol of luxury, is best known for producing handbags, fashionable shoes and furs. It is known all over the world by Hollywood stars, but also by businessmen and diplomats and all those who love luxury and are willing to pay any money for it.
While this famous fashion house is mostly known for its expensive handbags and furs, you can also buy T-shirts and jackets here. Nowadays the brand also produces many accessories, which are willingly purchased by lovers of luxury accessories.

Gucci

The Italian fashion house Gucci invariably tops the list of the world's most luxurious fashion brands. Its creative director is an absolute genius, combining business acumen with a visionary approach to fashion. Gucci, as one of the first luxury brands, began to feel the changes in the approach of the new generations to fashion, offering a vision of eclectic style, relating to social change, very modern and open to interpretation. The strategy seems to be working, as in 2021 the Gucci brand was valued at... $15.6 billion.

Hermes

You hear Hermes, you think "patterned silk scarf" or "Birkin bag"? That's right - every fashion fan knows this luxury clothing brand well, although not everyone can afford to shop in its boutique. Nevertheless, many can afford it, as evidenced by the excellent position of the Hermes fashion house on the market. In 2021, its value was almost $12 million, which means that it has a stable place in the list of prestigious fashion brands.

Jacquemus

Jacquemus is gaining in popularity. Despite the fact that compared to Chanel, it is a rather small fashion house with a much shorter history, it is already at the forefront of luxury clothing brands. The founder of Jacquemus, Simon Porte Jacquemus, is a man just like us, very different from other fashion designers. His history with the brand is not just a success story, but above all hard work. The most popular clothing item of this luxury brand has been the handbags, which, in addition to excellent design, are also notable for their competitive price.

Louis Vuitton

Another luxury clothing brand is the French fashion house Louis Vuitton, founded in the mid-19th century. In 2018, its artistic director was Virgil Ablo, a rebellious designer known for his Off-white brand, which is more associated with streetwear than with elegant fashion. Not only did the designer not lose the exclusive nature of the Louis Vuitton brand, but he refreshed it a bit so that it now reaches a younger audience more effectively. It was a great move that made the brand worth about $14.8 million in 2021.

Prada

Prada is one of the most famous fashion brands in the world. It is a sin not to mention that even the "devil" himself wore Prada. The Italian brand was founded in 1913 in Milan. Initially Prada, or more precisely Fratelli Prada, was engaged in the production of suitcases, and then the bags of luxury tone. The founder of the brand was Maria Prada. However, Prada owes its world fame to Miuccia Prada, granddaughter of the founder.

Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Saint Laurent is a fashion designer from France, co-founder of the fashion house Yves Saint Laurent SAS. The man was born in 1936 in Algeria and died in 2008 in France. He created his brand in 1961 with his partner Pierre Berger.
The designer began his career in the fashion world very early, at the age of 17. It soon became clear that he had an incredible talent, thanks to which he got a job at Christian Dior himself. After his death, he headed the Dior fashion house.
First of all, the designer popularized tweed jackets, i.e. Scottish wool fabrics. In addition, he dared to dress a woman in a tuxedo, which previously was intended only for men. The Yves Saint Laurent brand has been associated for many years with leather jackets and shoes with high cuffs.
